Part Used: Bark, twigs

Properties: Bark: taste pungent, sweet, very hot in nature; Twigs: taste pungent, bitter, warm in nature

Actions:Bark: tonify fire and assist yang, retrieve fire to the source, disperse cold and relieve pain, warm and unblock the meridians; Twigs:Induce sweating and relieve muscle tension, warm the channels and unblock the meridians, assist yang and transform qi, smooth and descend rebellious qi

Usage:Bark: decline of vital gate-fire, cold limbs and weak pulse, yang exhaustion and general exhaustion, diarrhea and stomachache, cold hernia and renal mass, cold pain of waist and knees, menostasis and abdominal mass, dorsal furuncle, multiple abscess, upward floating of yang in deficiency condition, upper heat and lower cold; Twigs: exterior syndrome due to wind-cold, aching of shoulder, back, limb joints, thoracic obstruction, phlegm and retained fluid, menostasis and abdominal mass.
